Cowell makes historic move to Liga MX
San Jose Earthquakes forward joins Chivas
Cowell completes transfer to Mexican powerhouse
San Jose Earthquakes have transferred homegrown forward Cade Cowell to Liga MX side Chivas de Guadalajara. The 20-year-old left winger has signed a deal through 2025.
Cowell has been a key player for the Earthquakes since breaking into the first team in 2020. He has scored 11 goals and provided 12 assists in 63 appearances for the club.
The United States international has also been capped at youth level for his country. He was part of the US team that won the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
Cowell's move to Chivas is a major coup for the Mexican club. Chivas are one of the most successful clubs in Liga MX history, and they will be hoping that Cowell can help them to win their first league title since 2017.
Cowell's departure is a blow for the Earthquakes, but it is a sign of the club's commitment to developing young talent. The Earthquakes have a number of other promising young players in their academy, and they will be hoping that they can follow in Cowell's footsteps and make the jump to Europe or Mexico.
