Denver Broncos Coaching History

Gary Kubiak

3124 Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego is a historic venue with a rich history in professional football and is widely recognized as the former home of the San Diego Chargers. The stadium opened in 1967 and has hosted numerous memorable games and events throughout its existence.

In 2015, the Denver Broncos made a significant coaching hire when they brought in Gary Kubiak to lead the team. Kubiak had previously served as the head coach of the Houston Texans from 2006 to 2013 and had a reputation for being a successful offensive coordinator.

Under Kubiak's leadership, the Broncos experienced immediate success. In his first season, the team went 12-4 and won the AFC West division title. They advanced to the Super Bowl that year but ultimately lost to the Carolina Panthers. However, in the following season, Kubiak led the Broncos to a 9-7 record and a victory in Super Bowl 50, defeating the Carolina Panthers and securing the franchise's third Super Bowl title.

Kubiak's tenure with the Broncos was marked by his offensive philosophy, which emphasized a strong running game and a balanced attack. He was known for his ability to develop and utilize running backs, and during his time in Denver, he helped establish running back C.J. Anderson as one of the most productive players in the league.

Kubiak's coaching career was cut short in 2017 due to health reasons. However, his impact on the Broncos and the NFL as a whole is undeniable. He is remembered as a successful coach who brought a winning culture to Denver and helped lead the team to its third Super Bowl victory.
